I am an Ambassador.

For my people to people meeting Jan 10th we were instructed to write a page in our journals about what it means to be a student ambassador. I took the task and made it a little more creative.  Here are my words.

I am no longer Jasmine Brown. America is my name.
To bring peace and understanding is what I hope to gain.
Embracing new cultures, learning new lessons
Getting to know one another, diving past the first impressions
We see what we see, we hear what we hear
But up close and personal we sometimes fear
As an ambassador it is my job to break barriers and unite
Bringing love respect and hope is my only fight

A Touch of Love in Tragedy.

In March of 2009 the companion I had grown up with most of my life passed away. A week later I received a card from the crematorium along with her ashes. The card read:
"Lord, You have embraced a good friend and loving companion. While we mourn what we have lost, we do celebrate what we had...and in saying goodbye, we renew our pledge to love and care for any creature You entrust to us for its time of life. Thank You, Lord, for the joy this loved one gave us. Thank You, Lord for making it possible for us to have made this friend's life with us a good one."

I never realized how much words...kind words can touch a heart. Lesson: Words are POWERFUL. This prayer is, and Im sure will forever be my most appreciated piece of writing.
